HDViper project presented at Celtic Event in Paris

HDViper features a live demo of multi-party HD videoconferencing at Celtic Event in ParisExpand/Contract

Paris - France, March 11th, 2009, The Celtic Initiative organised its fourth official event on 11th and 12th of March 2009 at the Marriott Hotel (Rive Gauche) in Paris. The Event was target to decision makers, managers, and technical experts from telecommunications industry, operators, and academia.

HDViper had the opportunity to show the current project status, and the available results and developments. Running throughout the whole event in the HDViper booth was a live demo of a 3-party videoconference. Two FullHD cameras together with two large 52" LCD screens accompanied by a USB webcam and a 24" LCD monitor were used.

The demo showed the potential and the flexibility of the HDViper platform. It featured incorporation of different video formats and codecs and seamless transition between them in a single videoconferencing session.

HDViper project presented at Research for Industry in Poznan

HDViper features an live demo of two-party HD videoconferencing at Research for Industry ITM Poland fair in PoznanExpand/Contract

Poznan - Poland, June 16th till 19th, 2009, Poznan International Fair organised ITM Poland fair from 16th till 19th of June 2009. ITM Poland is the largest fair in Central-Eastern Europe dedicated to the latest industrial technologies. The equipment presented belong to the most modern in their class. Fair visitors had many opportunities to see prototypes of machines and devices not yet produced anywhere in the world. These innovations would not have been possible without scientific research. The Research for Industry exhibition was a platform for bringing research together with industry.

HDViper had the opportunity to run a live videoconference demo through the whole event in the PSNC booth. Two FullHD cameras together with two large 52" LCD screens were used.

The demo showed that HD videoconferencing using consumer market hardware is possible today, thanks to the HDViper platform. Different video formats and codecs were used to show that improvements in either bandwith capacity or raw CPU power can be utilised to enrich a videoconferencing session with higher video quality.

HDViper project presented at IBC in Amsterdam

HDViper features a live demo of two-party HD videoconferencing at IBC2009 in AmsterdamExpand/Contract

Amsterdam - Netherlands, September 11th till 15th, 2009, IBC is the leading international forum for the electronic media industry, attracting 45,500+ visitors and 1,300+ exhibitors from more than 130 countries. It combines a highly respected and peer reviewed conference and an exhibition that demonstrates state of the art media technology and unrivalled networking opportunities.

Just like at ITM Poland in June, HDViper had the opportunity to run a live videoconference demo through the whole event in the PSNC booth. Two FullHD cameras together with two large 52" LCD screens were used.

The demo showed the potential and the openness of the HDViper platform as a software solution for HD videoconferencing. Multiple video formats and codecs were shown. The demo run successfully through the whole event showing improved feeling of presence thanks to HD video resolution.

HDViper project outcome presented at Celtic Event in Valencia

HDViper features a local and a remote live demo of two-party HD videoconferencing at Celtic Event in ValenciaExpand/Contract

Valencia - Spain, April 12th till 16th, 2010, The Celtic Initiative organised its 5th official Celtic Event on 12th and 13th April 2010 at the Valencia Congress Center in Valencia / Spain. The Event was targeted to decision makers, managers, and technical experts from telecommunications industry, operators, and academia. Over 200 experts and decision makers attended the sessions. During the whole week from 12 to 16 April a Celtic project exhibition was organised by Celtic project teams demonstrating their achievements, demos or prototypes and discuss their results with interested experts.

Presenting the outcome of the project, HDViper ran a live videoconference demo through the whole event. The demo featured a local setup of two FullHD cameras together with a large 52" LCD screen and a 24" LCD monitor. A remote videoconferencing session was also performed when Erik Eliasson from KTH connected live from Sweden using an HD camera.

Additionally a video clip of HDViper used in a real scenario was shown. The video was a recording of an English lesson run together by a class from Gimnazjum nr 4 in Poznan, Poland and IES Maria Aurčlia Capmany in Cornellŕ de Llobregat, Spain.

The demo showed that HDViper project managed to deliver a viable HD videoconferencing platform. The demos running successfully through the whole event showed that HD video resolution is available now in a low-cost, software-only solution.
